World Day For The Prevention Of And Healing From Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, And Violence

“Child sexual abuse is one of the greatest violations to human dignity, one can suffer.” On 18 November, as per the direction of the United Nations, “World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence” is observed. This was co-sponsored by the Resolution of more than 120 countries and supported with loud applause.

This day aims to raise global awareness of the suffering of child sexual abuse in the optimism that policymakers will take steps to combat it. Every year, millions of children are victims of sexual violence, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Sexual abuse of children exists in various forms all over the world. Child sexual abuse is defined as the sexual exploitation or victimization of a child by an elderly, teenager, or older child. Child sexual abuse survivors are more likely to experience protracted mental and physical health consequences. According to a non-governmental organization (NGO) that works on revealing and tracking child sexual abuse in Pakistan, thousands of children are surviving child sexual abuse.

“The World Day for the Prevention and Healing of Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence” is an essential step toward attempting to bring organizational acknowledgment to this heinous childhood trauma. Too many child sexual abuse victims suffer from guilt and acquiescence. Many people live in agony. We can serve as a forum for all nations and civil society to mobilize and take action to protect children from this tragedy by adopting this Resolution. This day was created to bring awareness to this global problem and to promote healing for survivors.

This year’s theme is “Let’s Talk about It!” We must start talking about it to break the cycle of silence and denial that surrounds child sexual abuse. This can be a complex topic to discuss, but it is so important that we do.

5 Methods For Talking About Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, And Violence:

Create A Safe Space:

When discussing this sensitive topic, creating a safe and comfortable environment for everyone involved is essential. This can be done by ensuring that everyone has a chance to speak and be heard, ensuring that all questions are welcome, and respecting everyone’s experiences and opinions.

Listen More Than You Speak:

We must pay heed to what victims have to admit about their experiences. We must also listen to what people who work with survivors have to say about effective prevention methods and best practices for healing.

Educate Yourself And Others:

There is a lot of misinformation about child sexual abuse. We must educate ourselves on the facts to dispel myths and better support survivors.

Speak Up Against Child Sexual Abuse:

If you see or hear something that makes you uneasy, say something. You could be the one to prevent a child from being harmed. Additionally, speaking up against child sexual abuse, in general, can help create a social environment where this behavior is not tolerated.

Support survivors:
