The History Of International Men’s Day

What started as a local event in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999 has grown into an international movement, with over 70 countries participating. So what is International Men’s Day all about?

International Men’s Day was first celebrated on February 7th, 1992. Thomas Oaster, a social worker from Missouri, founded it. This day was chosen to honor the memory of two important events: the Feast of St. Andrew and the international opening of the Movie “Tootsie”.

The idea for a holiday caught on quickly and soon spread to other countries. In 1999, the United Nations officially recognized International Men’s Day with the adoption of Resolution 54/134. This resolution called for member states to “celebrate the role of men and boys in achieving gender equality, rendering valuable service to their communities, and promoting respect for human rights.”

Why We Need International Men’s Day

Despite recent progress, gender inequality remains a significant issue. According to World Health Organization data, men overlook their physical and mental health, which is one of the world’s most widespread human rights violations. International Men’s Day was created to impact the lives and well-being of men and boys positively. Also, to raise awareness and funds for charities that support the well-being of men and boys. Furthermore, it encourages a positive dialogue about men, manhood, and masculinity. We must continue raising awareness and discussing these issues if we are to achieve true gender equality. International Day for Men is one way to accomplish this.

Hashi GoC Is Celebrating Men’s Day

International Men’s Day is important to raise awareness about the issues facing men and boys worldwide. On this day, various important topics are frequently discussed, including fatherhood and parenting, mental health and well-being, gender stereotypes, and the importance of involving men and boys in the fight for gender equality. International Men’s Day is a time to celebrate how far we’ve come in the fight for gender equality, but it’s also a time to reflect on how far we still have to go.

Hashi Group of Companies is celebrating Men’s International Day with their official healthcare partner Healthwire. The company is strongly committed to improving men’s health and well-being worldwide. Recognizing this commitment, the Hashi Group of Companies has dedicated this international day to raising awareness about men’s health issues. On this day, representatives from Healthwise have joined to provide information and answer questions about men’s health. Dr. Iffat Rohail from Healthwise talked about the fair distribution of rights and cultural norms. Gender equality does not imply gender equality; rather, it broadens the concept of social, cultural, and biological differences. However, both genders deserve to be treated fairly. We always talk about women being oppressed, but no one ever talks about oppressed men. On this Men’s Day, we need to reframe these discussions and focus more on men’s mental health and well-being.
